Hello
I am an eldest daughter, former academically gifted student, and recovering perfectionist. I used to be the poster child for managing everyone else’s needs and boundaries without ever feeling like I could set my own. If people pleasing were a pageant, I was your Miss Congeniality. But real life isn’t about getting gold stars and straight A’s- it’s about creating a life that’s meaningful to you.
You can get things done, love your people well, and navigate life’s challenges without being driven by your anxiety. As a therapist, I love helping people get there.
AS A COUNSELOR
I take special pride in supporting adult clients who are overfunctioners or perfectionists in the face of stress, haven’t been given permission to have needs or set boundaries in their current or past relationships, those who demonstrate compassion towards others but have difficulty extending the same compassion to themselves, anxious high achievers, highly sensitive people (HSPs), and individuals with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Sound like you? Let's chat.
I’ve received extensive trained in Exposure and Ritual Prevention Therapy for OCD and Attachment-Focused EMDR for trauma work. I believe the counseling experience needs to be tailored to the individual needs of each client and we will work together to co-create an approach that meets your particular needs and goals.
I honor the diversity of human experience, respecting the full spectrum of gender expression, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, spirituality, and disability status. I am committed to a Health At Every Size (HAES) approach which includes accepting and respecting the inherent diversity of body shapes and sizes, rejecting the idealizing or pathologizing of specific weights, promoting intuitive eating based on hunger, satiety, nutritional needs, and pleasure, and supporting physical activities that allow people of all sizes, abilities, and interests to engage in enjoyable movement to the degree that they choose.
AS A COACH
I work with high-achieving, busy women to craft lives they love using a unique approach to clarifying values, prioritizing, problem solving around barriers, and accountability to taking action. I offer both individual and group opportunities to carve out space for more of what you want and less of what you don’t. If you’re so busy doing that you don’t feel like you’re living, let’s talk.
IN CONSULTATION
I strive to help other therapists understand the ins and outs of supporting clients with OCD so we can increase the availability of treatment rooted in best practice. I’ve seen the joy and empowerment clients can experience when they learn to disrupt the cycle of OCD and respond to the world with flexibility. I’ve also seen the harm that can be done when well-intentioned therapists fail to understand how some therapeutic approaches feed into the OCD cycle and worsen symptoms. If you’re a therapist, let's partner together.
I’m a proud North Carolinian who completed my undergraduate degree at NC State University and my master’s degree at Wake Forest. In my free time, you can find me at the barn with my horses, at the pottery studio, traveling with my partner, or deep diving into a craft project. I have two rescue dogs that fill my heart and leave fur all over my home. I love cheesy Hallmark movies, coffee, snow days, the Enneagram, and dream of someday owning a pet pig (but for now I just give extra apples to a pot-bellied porcine friend at the barn where my horses live).
